Faith Healers...

So the other day I was watching television with the fam, and "Pastor Chris" came on with his show "atmosphere for miracles." He healed some people, and one woman said that she saw him on tv and "knew that the moment I laid eyes on you, I would be healed." Hm... this caused some consternation to rise up within me. But the thing that I couldn't get past was that, for the most part, the thousands of people who were in the auditorium were praising God, that one woman I don't know, but the audience was. So I wondered if these verses applied:

Phil. 1:15-18
Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. The former proclaim Christ out of rivalry, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment. What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice.

Mark 9:38-41
John said to Him, "Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him for he was not one of us." But Jesus said, "Do not stop him, for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon afterward to speak evil of me. For the one who is not against us is of us. For truly I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ will by no means lose his reward.

God is getting the glory...what do you think?

I have been thinking about similar things recently. I pray that God will bring glory to Himself, in whatever ways He sees fit. And I find that I am consistently challenged by the ways He chooses to work, and the very different ways that those who claim the name of Jesus express their faith in Him. I may disagree with method or suspect someone's motives, but I cannot see into another person's heart. I am altogether too quick to judge.

It does come down to exactly what Paul says: God is God. We're not. If God is being glorified, who are we to condemn?
